BISH

What often starts as just a game, often ends up becoming a real passion.

So it happened with Bish, the Polish cosplayer who will perform on the Cosplay World Masters stage in 2023.

Although she started her cosplay adventure just to have fun with her friends, today the creative process and all the preparation of her skit is part of our contestant’s reality.

More than a passion, cosplay is also an art.

And no one better to show us that than Christy!

Representing the United States, our contestant started sewing her own costumes from an early age, taking inspiration from her favourite animes and movies. Later, when she started taking to the stage, she realised that her passion for sewing went far beyond the usual, encompassing performance and skit as well.

Now it’s time to wait and see if she can charm the Iberanime audience and jury!

Sasha

Sasha

Hello, I’m Sasha and I’m a cosplayer from Sofia, Bulgaria! I’ve been cosplaying since 2013, and I started making my own costumes in 2014. My favorite part of cosplay is the challenge of figuring out how to translate (often unrealistic) fantasy designs to real-life outfits and props, and I enjoy picking up new crafting skills from each project I take on.

I’ve always had a great love for storytelling, whatever the medium. In my free time, I love reading, playing video games, and playing D&D with my friends. I also love travelling; besides Bulgaria, I’ve lived in the UK and Japan, and I am very excited to visit Portugal for the first time and meet fellow cosplayers from around the world!

Outside of the cosplay realm, I recently graduated from university with a joint honor’s degree in business and Japanese. At the moment, I am working for a Japanese video game publisher. You can normally find me gushing over my favorite fictional characters, thinking about sweets, or singing the praises of Zuko’s redemption arc (which, on second thought, might just be me gushing over him after all).

Asumi

Hello there! Name is Asumi and I am 20 years old Slovak cosplayer since 2014 . Cosplay has just recently become my biggest passion and even lifestyle. I love the feel to be my favourite fictional character and roleplay it on stage. Most of the time I voiceact or sing performances entirely myself because I tend to enjoy it more like that. I am always giving maximum effort to my costumes although it mostly means I have no holidays at all.
Beside that I devote my time to dugeon mastering with friends, singing and playing PC games. Currently I am an uni student focusing on media design.
It will be first time for me to actually visit Portugal and I am very excited to meet all of you!

Oh you think glitter is your ally? You merely adopted the glitter. I was born in it, molded by it. I didn’t see the sparkles until I was already a woman, by then it was nothing to me but blinding. It was 15 years ago my friends convinced me to make a costume of my favorite video game character. I thought the costume was so bad that I never wore it. It was at that time I swore to myself I would get better if I kept working hard by trying over and over again. I define cosplay as being the ambassador of your favorite anime/video game through costume. I like to use my costumes as a conversation starter to get people interested in my fandom. The best part about cosplay is meeting new people and geeking out over how they made their costumes. Through that bond, you create friendships. I enjoy the challenge of figuring out how to create things that defy the laws of physics. Also, I love making things that are bright, shiny, glittery and full of sparkle. When I am not drowning in cosplay projects, I love to spend time making costumes for my daughter and making clothing/costumes for Sphinx cats.

Nurse Dora is not only a nurse who cares about the art of caring for others, she is also Dorothy Dare. With this character Dora practices the art of cosplay in a very serious and irreverent way. In 2014 she had her first cosplay experience and since then it has been love at first sight, as she herself identifies. Its main purpose, rather than dressing a character, is the taste of being on stage and visually and extravagantly entertaining the audience. She calls herself an artist, where through art and narrative she exposes the senses of those who observe her.
